Lawrence Blackmon is a practicing attorney representing clients in civil rights and personal injury cases. He is licensed in Mississippi and Georgia with bases in Canton, MS, and Atlanta, GA.
Blackmon is a young lawyer who is emerging as one of the most salient attorneys in the nation. He works tirelessly to eradicate barriers for individuals and groups who have been historically oppressed. Growing up, he witnessed the intersectional ways that inequitable systems harmed people of color in the legal system. He knows that being a civil rights attorney often means listening to communities and helping them find the right solutions for their needs. He travails to identify the root causes of the problems we face to stop them from recurring. After passing bar exams in Mississippi and Georgia, he came out fighting fervently for civil rights and justice.
Born and raised in Mississippi, practicing the law is in Blackmon’s blood, with his father and stepmother, Ed and Barbara, founding the prestigious Blackmon & Blackmon Law Firm. He started his education at the historically Black Piney Woods School, where he learned hard work by caring for cattle as part of the school’s strict discipline. He attended the illustrious Howard University for his undergraduate degree and, during this time, became a community activist and organizer. After graduating, Blackmon spent some time in the tech field as a founder of a startup, but would soon enter the family business, immersing himself in the study of law. He attended Mississippi Law School, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (JD), then furthered his education, thus earning a Masters of Law (LLM) from George Washington University. He started his career at Blackmon and Blackmon before heading his private practice.
